Saffron is one of the most valuable spices in the world, and for good reason. It takes approximately 150,000 to 200,000 hand-picked crocus flowers to produce just 1 kilogram of saffron threads. Each flower yields only three delicate red stigmas, which must be harvested with great care.
For the highest grade of saffron, flowers are picked by hand just before sunrise, while they are still closed to protect the fragile threads. The stigmas are then carefully separated and dried using natural methods, without exposure to direct sunlight or heat—both of which can degrade quality, reduce potency, and lower the saffron grade.
What sets Divine Healing Saffron apart is its unmatched potency. Due to the unique climate in select regions of Afghanistan, our saffron boasts the highest recorded levels of crocin (the component responsible for color and healing power). As a result, just 1 gram of Divine Healing Saffron delivers the same strength as 6 grams of standard Spanish saffron.
This exceptional potency, purity, and traditional harvesting method make Divine Healing Saffron a rare and powerful ingredient—worthy of its reputation and value.Â

How do I tell if saffron is real or fake?

Appearance Shape
Genuine saffron threads are trumpet-shaped, with a thin base and a wider, flat tip. The highest quality saffron—such as Royal Super Negin—features long, straight, and unbroken threads that appear carefully pressed and aligned. In contrast, lower grades like Super Negin, Negin, or most Spanish saffron tend to have curled or uneven threads, often with yellow or frayed tips. These indicate reduced purity and lower crocin content (typically around 236).

Color
Fresh, premium saffron should display a deep, vibrant red hue, similar to the color of pomegranate arils. This rich red indicates high crocin levels, which directly correlate with strength, aroma, and health benefits. As saffron ages, the color fades and shifts toward brownish-red, signaling a decline in potency. Slight orange tips may be present in lower-grade varieties, but the highest grade, Royal Super Negin, should be uniformly deep red with minimal discoloration.

Smell
Fresh, high-quality saffron has a distinctly strong, earthy aroma, often described as hay-like with warm metallic undertones. For those unfamiliar with real saffron, the intensity of the scent may initially seem unusual—but it is a sign of freshness and potency.
If the aroma feels overwhelming at first, it can be helpful to leave the container open in a cool, dark place for a few days. As it breathes naturally, the beautiful and balanced fragrance of genuine saffron will begin to emerge more clearly.

Water Test
Place a few threads in warm water or milk:
Real saffron will slowly release a golden yellow color after 10–15 minutes, while the threads remain red.
Fake saffron often dyes the water instantly with an artificial red or orange tint—and the threads may lose their color or dissolve.
Another sign of fresh, authentic saffron is how it behaves after steeping. When soaked in warm water or milk for 12 hours or more, fresh saffron releases a rich golden color, but the threads themselves will remain intact, turning pale or white rather than dissolving completely.
This is a clear indicator of pure, natural saffron—unlike synthetic or adulterated varieties, which often dissolve or bleed artificial dyes.

Taste
Saffron tastes slightly bitter or hay-like. The stronger bitter is the taste the higher the quality of saffron. It should never taste sweet.

How much saffron should I Use?
Our Multiple Award-Winning Saffron contains the highest levels of crocin, picrocrocin, and safranal in the world—scientifically measured components responsible for color, taste, and aroma. With a crocin level over 300, compared to the average 230+ in standard Spanish saffron, our saffron is up to 6 times stronger, meaning you need only a very small amount.

For Cooking:
Use just a small pinch of threads. Place them on ice and allow it to melt naturally—this gentle process releases the saffron’s full spectrum of flavor and aroma. Add the infused liquid slowly into your dish, tasting as you go. Some prefer a subtle touch, while others enjoy a bolder saffron flavor.

 For Healing:
The right amount of saffron depends on each person’s age, gender, body weight, and health condition. That’s why every jar of Divine Healing Saffron Mood Booster comes with a measuring spoon and detailed instructions.
Key Factors That Influence Dosage:
1. Age – Children, adults, and seniors all require different amounts.
2. Gender & Body Weight – Dosage may be adjusted for men and women, or for lighter vs. heavier individuals.
3. Lifestyle & Symptoms – Those with mild stress or fatigue may need less than those experiencing stronger symptoms such as anxiety, ADHD, or depression.
4. Freshness & Quality of Saffron – Since our saffron is always freshly harvested and whole, smaller amounts may be effective compared to brands that use older or lower-grade saffron.
